Gun Fail of the Day: Jurassic World

With all the cool guns in the world Jurassic World equips the hero with some lame-ass lever gun. I’d like to see a version of this movie with a proper battle between well-armed men and a shit load of dinosaurs. Something like Starship Troopers only with dinos instead of bugs. Massive gun fail. There are no lame-ass lever guns, only lame-ass websites. I’d take a Winchester 1886 in .50 express against a dinosaur any day.

Lame ass lever gun? Maybe he shoulda been sporting a chromed M16 or gold plated AK-47. Because 5.56 and 7.62 are big rounds. Or a good old fashioned rifle like a Remington 700 in .308. A lever gun would be easier to use than the latter, and have better power than the former two, and can pack one helluva punch with something like .45-70 or .50 cal.

Well, consider this… It’s a movie and he was playing a character in the movie. A character with a bit of an independent mountain man / old world (note the retro styled triumph) style. The lever gun sort of depicts a durable, reliable old world mystique. The stainless steel sells the modern practicality of guns in the tropics. Utilitarian. And yes, it’s a big heavy hitter and not a single shot elephant gun. It fit his character pretty well. I hesitate to say “Indiana Jones” but you can see my point.

I turned to my friend during the movie and said “if he Indiana Joneses under one more door, I’m out”

Have seen your program on Apple i-phone. Still undecided about an i-phone, htc or Nokia. Will the system work on all? My home computer is ibm type, can I print to my Cannon?

“Starship Troops” is simply the absolute worse movie made from a novel. Heilein’s “Cap Troopers” used powered suits, used capsules to parachute in, and their main weapon was a flamethrower, not a puny 5.56.
Read the book. The battle scenes are far better then the movie.

If facing a single dino; Jeff Cooper’s old 45-70 lever action trapper gun would do wonders. Just because something is old, doesn’t mean that it still can’t be deadly.

Well, the fancy full auto, state of the art, cannon went down on the chopper! I say simple and effective lever guns worked and they are still sexy as the hero!

I just saw the movie and he took several shots without once working the lever. Another stupid movie gun fail.

You know nothing about guns that is a 45-70 round not like ur ar.223 so u wish u saw. The ar guns would do jack to a dino. The gun he has is a perfect selection for the job. That gun will take down anything living on this earth with the correct shot. The onlt other guy who has a better gun than him in the movie is the only guy with a shotgun. Guess he was shooting bird shot lol cause the dino charged right after him and he shot it at least 4 times. Lol use slugs. But anyway i believe yes with his gun in real like u could tak down a dino with ease with correct shot.

“All the cool guns…” Big animals don’t care about chrome steel or designer names. They only respect big entry holes with even bigger exit ones. Even high-rate-of-fire miniguns (like the M134D 6-barrel Gatling) use teensy 7.62 NATO rounds — great for strafing civilians in jungles, but just try getting several in the same hole to enlarge it!) Try a 20mm M61 Vulcan cannon, should get I.Rex’s attention — just before blowing its entire jaw off. There are even bigger guns, but they wouldn’t fit on a helo.
Just because a lever gun doesn’t let you play cartoon action hero doesn’t mean an almost half-inch entry hole isn’t a good start at ing down a dino — who cares how big it is, it only has one head.
By the way, in the “spared no expense” area, there are such things as depleted uranium cartridges… discuss.
